No Greater Love

As Good Friday and Easter approach, I often reflect upon the meaning of the holidays.  Every time I ponder the true meaning of the cross, I am in total awe, and often speechless.

How could someone love me so much that He would leave a Holy place, enter a sinful world, and willingly take my place on the cross?

No greater love exists!

There is no greater love than someone that would walk the streets with no place to lay his head in order to heal the sick, raise the dead, mend broken hearts and reconcile us back to God.

There is no greater love than someone that would lose his cousin, then just afterwards, while grieving , go and minister to and feed thousands of people that were hungry!

There is no greater love than someone that would tirelessly pour into those in his inner circle, knowing that he would later be denied, betrayed, and abandoned by those same people…all so that he could lay down his life for them, for you, and for me.

There is no greater love than someone that would be rejected by His own, betrayed by those closest to him, and beaten, bruised, mocked and scorned by those he once looked up to…All so that we could have eternal life with the Father.

There is no greater love than someone who would carry HIS OWN cross to be nailed to, suffer, bleed and die for me, and for you.

On that cross, Jesus bore all of our sicknesses, all of our diseases, all of transgressions and iniquities, to redeem us from our sins and so that we could have eternal life!

No greater love!

Jesus blows my mind every time!

Knowing how much He loves me, and knowing how He sacrificed His life for me compels me to give Him my all!

He whom the Son sets free is free indeed!  We are free to follow Him and His word totally and whole heartedly!

Knowing this compels me to want to live my life to please Him, not to please me!

Knowing this makes me want to remain in His love and follow His commands!  This truth makes me want to live the way the bible says, and not dare twist His word to fit my lifestyle or agenda!

Knowing this compels me to strive for holiness, not perfection!  I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law (dotting every “i” and crossing every “t'“), Christ died for nothing! (Galations 2:21)

So this weekend, as we reflect on what the Cross really means, and the sacrifices made on the cross for you and me, I urge us all to nail all of our shortcomings, all of our disappointments, all of our fears and pain to the cross.

I urge us all to repent of all things in our lives that have not been pleasing to Him, and confess Jesus as Lord of our entire life.

And once we have repented, let us embrace His love for us.  We no longer have to walk in condemnation for yesterday’s mistakes, because Christ covered it all on that old rugged cross.

Let us remain in His love and keep His commands.

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13.

Thank you Jesus!
